Hydrogen Exploration enabled by Petroleum Legislation Amendment Bill 2022

On 01/12/2022, Petroleum Legislation Amendment Bill 2022 has passed, and amendment was made to enable exploration for and production of naturally occurring hydrogen by amending the definition of petroleum”. This means hydrogen exploration rights have been granted to all existing and future petroleum exploration permits in Northern Territory.

Wiso Energy has 15 petroleum exploration permits (applications) in Northern Territory, and the change of legislation provides us with a legitimate path-way to become a hydrogen explorer. Presence of natural hydrogen has been proven at a few locations in NT. Wiso’s projects have favourable geological settings for helium and hydrogen accumulation.
